Stitch of leaf vein:
She is inspired by Yasuhiro Suzuki art work, "Blinking Leaves", in which lots of paper leaves that flutter and fall look as if they are blinking. His work was presented the group show, "Communicable Action for Everybody" at ATM in 2002. She is also interested in quilts world since she has visited an exhibition of quilts. So these sleeves were filled with cotton, and also can be take off when she feels hot in the gallery. That idea comes from Mayumi's new uniform.
Dyeing fabric:
She loves nature like tree and flower. This image of pattern is "moss". She majored in dyeing at college and this fabric made by one of the sample for her graduation work. This is inside of the sleeve. She is also inspired by Aki's new uniform which put some fabric in pale color, blue and green.
Favorite buttons and yarn:
She collected many kinds of sewing material that is one of her hobby when she was a student. She has kept them, and decided good time to use for this new uniform. This is look like branch, so she is going to put some leaves on this yarn.
Quilt with cotton:
She tried to fill this fabric with cotton, it also comes from technique of quilt. She represents this form as tree trunk.
How these trees to grow up during this exhibition?
"Making by hand is wonderful. Of course I knew it when I was a college student, but after graduated I forgot it for a long time. It was great opportunity for me to think about our uniformity and also fun to hear the individuality of the other participant's new uniform." -Mikiko
